My Short Running Story
Running
has been a part of my life since I can remember. Before high school it
was just for recreational purposes and mostly consisted of running
around my parent’s house as fast as I could. The start of a serious
running career began at Pine Ridge High
School
and then transitioned to Flagler Palm Coast where I ran competitively on
both teams. I moved onto an athletic scholarship and overcame 3-4 bone
fractures along the way to achieving my personal records.
1:56-800m,3:56-1500m, 25:30-8k. Today, I enjoy the competition, but
struggle to find consistency in training.
My Foundation of Knowledge
I officially formed 5k Race Director late 2008. The experience,
knowledge, and development of directing running events came
several years before. It began with my wonderful wife Tara whom I
met while running around Stetson University. I ran with her and the
Stetson Cross Country Team and was introduced to John Boyle again who
has over 40 years of event management and directing experience.
I met John Boyle as a 13
year old runner and soccer player, while competing at the Five Star
Conference meet in Deland. Boyle suggested I concentrate on running. A
decade later I decided to get into finish lines and other aspects of the race
business and from that time
forward I started working with Alta Vista Sports, and as they say the
rest is history.
